Getting started..................

Well I am going to try and give this a shot, I hope that you all will follow me while on this adventure and hopefully learn a few things that will help you keep your grocery bill lower!!!  I have tried to get some feed back on how much people think a family of 6 spends on groceries, I got a bunch of answers most were $500 or more a month.  I had a really hard time deciding what was the amount that we normally spend since I include diapers and cleaning supplies into this category most of the time.  I have decided that I am going to start at $350 and see how it goes first, I can probably go lower but I want to make sure that we can all do this after a little bit of practice :)
First, this is for my family of 6 so you might be a lot lower than that or maybe higher so just use this as a guideline as we start this journey together.  I have one bottomless pit and the rest of my kids are not really big eaters all of the time so this is not 6 full adults.  Second, I am going to start this in March and I will be able to use all of the food that is already in my house so at first especially you might have to spend more since I have a pretty good stockpile on somethings, but trust me not on all.  Third, remember even if we don't make our goal every month we will still be spending a lot less than the $500 mark that lots of people told me!
As my family is trying to do this we will be saving the extra money we save to put toward our summer vacation, we like to only have cash so we know exactly what we can afford to do and this will help us to be able to do a few extra things.  I will try and update you every month to the amount extra we saved to put aside for some FUN!!!!
With that I will see you all here the first week of March to start our challenge together!
