My parents are still here visiting since my sister's baby will be blessed this Sunday, but for the minute they are in at her apartment. I have not been shopping too much with them since we have been busy running around. When we have I have NOT really got great deals just haven't had the time plus my mom doesn't care if she likes it she will get it no matter what it cost:) (sorry mom but you know it is true, although she pays for it when she is with me. Good part about that is our grocery budget will easily be under 350 this month, we will not discuss the restaurant budget!) Anyway, I headed to Kroger fast the day they were coming.
I got 1.3lbs of Kanzi Apples
1.4lbs of Jazz Apples
2.9lbs of Bananas
2 Gallons of Milk
12 Kiwis
1 package of butter
The fruit was all on sale, the milk about the same as everywhere 3.19 and then the butter NOT cheap but I really needed it. I normally have a big stockpile of frozen butter 15 pkgs or so, but I was out that hasn't happened in a really long time.
The total was $15.27 I did it in 2 different transactions so I could use both of my $3 cats left over from the Mega Event and I had $0.50 off on my card due to a cellfire promotion, so my total was 8.77.
After this I have $309.30- $8.77 =$300.53
Then while they have been here I have had to run a pick up a few things needed that I didn't get great deals, this is going to be what I can remember since I searched high and low and can't find the receipt anywhere. At my house Nesquick is a MUST have, it was almost $8 for the huge one I did get a box of free granola bars with it though. Then I had to run in for Hot Dog buns another night and chips to go with a fundraiser salsa that we had gotten at church, since I was there I picked up two Johnsville Italian Sausages since I had the FREE coupons to try them through SheSpeaks(online group you can join to try new products for free and write reviews about them). Also got tomatoes and an avocado for my mom. That trip was just under $13 plus the $8 from before
$300.53-$21.00=$279.53 (I am off by a few cents since I rounded and I will figure out the exact amount after everyone goes home!)
Even if you factor in the trip where your Mom paid, there is still more than half the budget left and the month is half over. Pretty good considering how hectic things are and how little time you've had to find any good deals.
