Here we go...................

Well it is March 1st and I am already spending my grocery budget :)  Normally I would shop on Monday but due to other things going on I went today since I wanted to hit Kroger before the Mega event ended.  I spent a bit more than I would have since I got my girls the cuties (oranges) that they love!  I will be going back quick tonight since my husband and I just decided we needed to run in that way for a special treat for the kids.  I want to get a few more Mega event trips in since I have a bit more room in the freezer.
Right now I have gotten
2 pam cooking sprays   (2.19 ME - $0.35/1 (gets tripled) = $1.14)
6 Grands! biscuits         ($0.99 ME - $0.30/2 (get tripled) = $0.54)
6 Betty Crocker Fruit Snack  ($1.89 ME -$.50/2 (gets doubled) = $1.39) - this is not a great price but there  was another catalina printing out at the reg. for 5 or more boxes you got $3 next time
2 Betty Crocker Brownie mixes  ($1.69 - $.50/1 (gets doubled) = $0.69)
2 Totinos Party Pizza           ( $0.69 ME  I had no coupons for these, there are some I just didn't have any)
1 Ragu Sauce  ($1.55ME not a great price thought I had a coupon, but it didn't come off)
1 Kraft BBQ sauce ($0.70 ME)
1 Franks hot sauce ($0.99- $0.50/1 (doubles) = -$0.01)
3 lb Cutie Organes  ($3.49)
1 head of Iceberg Lettuce ($1.19)
3 Colagate Toothpastes  ($0.99 -$.50/1 (doubles) = -$0.01
all that was for 19.74 plus I got $9 to spend, 2 $3 catalinas for buying 20 items and another$3 for buying 5+ Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks.  (If you do the math it is a little off since a few coupons didn't work and I had to have them give me the cash back and the manager just did it as $5 )

Okay well I ran in tonight and spent $4.19
I got...................
1 box of wheat thins (Free coupon from Kroger sent to everyone with their email address in the system)
3 10ct mission flour taco shells (on sale $10/10 you do not have to buy 10)
5 Chef boyardee ($0.56 ME I had one free coupon from Walmart)
2 Kraft BBQ sauces ($0.70 ME)
2 Totinos Party Pizza ($0.69ME)
5 Kraft Mac N' Cheese ($3.19 -$1/1 =$2.19)
2 Mentos Gum ($10/10 - $.50/1 (doubles) = Free)
1 dozen eggs (Free coupon same as Wheat Thins)
I only spent $4.19 since I used two of my $3 cats from early (can't use the two the were from the Mega Event together this time so I still have that one) plus I earned another $3 cat.

ME- means Mega Event Item, if you bought 10 you got $3 off instantly so $0.30 per item which is the price I listed.
All the coupons are from the newspaper or online coupons I printed out.  I will try and start linking up to some maybe if I have time and people want it.  If you go to coupons.com you could find the ones I used on this trip!

So I got 47 items today and spent a total of 23.93.

So far 350-23.93 = 326.07

  1. I think I'd spend $23.93 on a pack of gum if the shopping were left up to me. Thank goodness Mel takes care of this, or we'd be screwed. :-)

  3. I really wish I had some of the mega stores you have down there so I could take advantage of the saving's knowledge in all this...

  4. That's awesome! I love seeing how much people can save. It is some work to organize the coupons and make sure you hit the right sales, but it is worth it.

  5. Hello Mel. I am a friend of Chads and love couponing myself. Of course it is just for me and my 2 year old so I have much less to buy for! Have you heard of southernsavers.com? She does great lists and even though you aren't in the south some of the stores are all over. Hope that might help. Good luck...I am already impressed with your Kroger trip! (no Krogers in my area...boo!)

  6. No I actually haven't used southernsavers.com before there are a few sites that I love to go to and I will probably try and do a post of why I love some of them soon. This is mainly for a few people that keep telling me they have no time to coupon :) I love it since I started doing it last year we have saved SO much money and after a little bit it really doesn't take too much time!
